The LSM in in the process of widening the scope of its alumni blog to include stories generated within the school, without  reducing the number or quality of stories by and about alumni, and media industry news, including jobs and internships. The first move was to change the title from LSM Alumni blog to Lincoln School of Media Network, and to modify the subtitle to “Linking alumni, students, staff and friends of the LSM”.
We are now thinking about the function of the top story, which we have always used as a way of grabbing and retaining readers. The simplest option would be to simply drop the “sticky post” altogether, so the blog would look more like a blog and less like a static home page.

Here’s another idea, to retain a much simpler sticky post and use it to invite readers to view either alumni stories, school stories or opportunities. (These are simply picture links which repeat current main menu categories.) We might also add a “Latest News”  feature. Something like this:
